Plant these vegetables in temperate parts of Australia during April, before the soil loses temperature. Prepare your garden bed or pots by enriching the soil with organic fertiliser, spreading a layer of compost, and covering it with your preferred mulch to lock in moisture, nutrients and minimise temperature loss.

You can sow seeds directly into the soil or start them off in seed trays for an early boost before transplanting them as seedlings.
