November Planting Guide

Yep, I am still not convinced that it is Spring. The first week in November and my soil temperature is struggling to maintain 10 degrees. This has allowed my winter vegetables to continue growing without any signs of running to seed.
I bit the bullet last Sunday and planted out my tomatoes as they were starting to set fruit in the hothouse and my chilli plants, retaining one of each chilli variety in the hothouse. I have a Carolina Reaper that is over 6 years old, a 3 year old Bolivian chilli. My long red chilli passed away this winter after many years of faithful service. This has been replaced and I have added a Jalapeno and a Capsicum to the mix. Time will tell how these additional two varieties survive.
This weekend I will be starting my Paprika Chilli seeds and Kidney bean seeds in the hothouse, somehow I overlooked these two when doing my bulk seed planting, not really concerned due top the current seasonal conditions.
The beauty of a late season is that if you were not organised at the commencement of Spring planting then it is definitely not too late to start.
The guide below is a typical November planting guide but you will need adjust for the current cooler conditions and expect some slower results. Beware of seeds rotting in the ground if your soil temperature is low and very wet. Seedlings will survive but their growth may be reduced. If your vegetable garden has its own micro climate you may have no issues at all (Lucky you).
