Winter has commenced, but we can still plant some vegetables to reward us with beautiful produce in the coming months.

  • Broad Beans - Sow Seeds or Plant Seedlings

  • Garlic - Cloves

  • Lettuce - Plant Seedlings

  • Onions - Sow seeds or Plant seedlings

  • Peas - Sow Seeds or Plant Seedlings

  • Rocket - Plant seedlings

  • Spinach - Sow Seeds or Plant Seedlings

  • Silverbeet - Plant Seedlings

  • Strawberries - Plant seedlings

If you have an existing strawberry bed, it is time to remove the mother plants more than two years old, as they will have reduced production. Snip the leading stems of the new runners and allow these plants to become the main plants. You can lift and move these new plants to help organise your strawberry bed. I give mine a nice feed of Eco-Booch to activate the soil and feed the plants, then tuck them into bed with a nice layer of mulch to protect the soil from the cold.

Keep warm and happy gardening.
