It is starting to feel like spring, but only just. The soil temperature is starting to rise, we need this to be 10 degrees or above before our plants will start to take off. As my soil temperature is still below this, I have up planted my seedlings from seed trays into small pots to allow them to continue growing in my little hothouse and become a good size before planting out. I planted my zucchini, the first succession planting of my savoy cabbage seedlings and snow peas (seeds) but the zucchini is telling me that it is still too cold as it has become dormant. This will be my indicator - when it starts to take off, I will plant out all my other seedlings. I wish the weeds were the same, they are keeping me busy with their vigorous growth.

There is plenty to plant this month, here is a list to get you started.

  • Asparagus - plant crowns

  • Basil - plant seedlings or start seeds in a seed tray

  • Beans (Dwarf or climbing) - plant seedlings or seeds
